Choosing a System to Manage Government Property (GFP and CAP) — Why Spreadsheets or ERP Are Not Adequate? Request the White Paper
E-ISG recently did a survey of about 300 professionals from about 150 government contractors. They are from Financing, Property Management, Contract Management, Compliance Management areas, who are key stakeholders for managing Government Property.
When being asked “What type of system do you use to track Government Property?”
- 58% of the participants said they use either ERP asset management module or excel sheets to manage government property.
When being asked “Do you believe you know where every item of Government Property is, with good records to show an Auditor?”
- 53% of the participants said “I sure hope so”, or “No”.
That’s because spreadsheets or ERP systems are not adequate for managing Government Property in a way to support the 10 outcomes of Government Property Management, as required by the Federal Acquisition Rules (FAR).
